Full Siding Replacement Built Around What's Underneath

Siding rarely gives out for no reason. Curling, fading, and cracking are usually the visible end of something that's been building behind the wall for years, whether that's sun damage, age, or moisture that found its way in slowly. When our Cochiti Lake, NM crew shows up for a replacement, the first thing they do is pull sample sections to see what's really going on underneath, not just judge the job by what's visible from the curb. On a fair number of projects, that step changes everything, since a homeowner expecting a straightforward swap sometimes finds soft framing near a window sill or a corner board that needs attention first.

A replacement also means cleaning up after whoever installed the siding originally, old nails, patched flashing, decades of caulk and touch-up paint layered on top of each other. Instead of building around those old shortcuts, we strip the wall down to bare, flat sheathing before anything new goes up. It's slower than nailing fresh panels over the old ones, but it's the only way the new siding sits flat and actually performs the way its manufacturer intended.

For Cochiti Lake, NM homeowners trying to decide between a full replacement and ongoing patch repairs, it usually comes down to the siding's age and how much of the house is affected. Anything installed more than twenty years ago, or damage spread across several walls, tends to cost less in the long run as a full replacement than as a string of repeated fixes. After #YEARS years on replacement jobs, we'd rather tell you honestly which path fits your house than steer you toward the bigger project by default.
